What is Lip Blushing?
Lip Blushing implants pigment into the upper layers of the lip to enhance colour, restore shape, correct asymmetry, and give lips a youthful, healthy glow.
We can enhance up to 1–2mm beyond your natural lip line (without over-lining) to subtly improve shape and fullness.
Please note: Lip Tattooing does not lighten dark naturally pigmented lips, however gentle neutralisation techniques may be available depending on your lip tone – please enquire for suitability.

Before Your Appointment (Pre-Care)
To ensure the best healed result:
• Cold Sores: If you have ever had a cold sore (even once), you MUST take an anti-viral supplement or medication 3–7 days before & after treatment (e.g., Lysine or a script from your GP). Lip tattooing can trigger a cold sore during healing.
• Avoid sun exposure, chemical peels, active skincare (AHA/BHA/Retinol) around the mouth for 7 days prior.
• Stay hydrated – dry or cracked lips cannot be tattooed.
• Avoid alcohol and caffeine 24 hours before your appointment.
What to Expect During the Appointment
• We start with a consultation to discuss your ideal colour and style.
• A numbing agent is applied for comfort.
• Your artist maps & perfects your lip shape before beginning the tattoo process.
• We typically use a slightly deeper tone on the border and blend into a softer wash through the centre for a natural, dimensional pout.
⏱ Treatment Time: Approx. 2 hours
Includes a perfecting retouch 6–8 weeks later.
Aftercare & Healing
Your lips will appear brighter/deeper for the first 24–48 hours. As they heal, the outer layer gently flakes and softens into a natural tint.
Healing Guide:
• Days 1–2: Bright, firm, slightly swollen
• Days 3–6: Flaking/peeling (colour will lighten)
• Weeks 2–4: Colour settles, softens and evens out
A perfecting session at 6–8 weeks is recommended to refine colour and shape.
Important:
• Expect colour to fade 30–60% during healing.
• Avoid makeup, sun exposure, kissing and active products around the mouth for 7 days.
• Full healing: 4 weeks
Results & Longevity
Lip Blush typically lasts 2–4 years, depending on:
• Skin type & lifestyle
• Skincare actives (retinol, AHA/BHAs)
• Sun exposure & lip care habits
• Smoking
For best retention, avoid excessive lip filler and frequent exfoliation on the lips.
Who Cannot Have This Treatment
You may not be suitable if you:
• Are pregnant or breastfeeding
• Have active cold sores or severely chapped lips
• Are on Roaccutane (must wait 6–12 months)
• Have had recent lip filler (must wait 4+ weeks)
• Have uncontrolled medical conditions affecting healing
